Reiner Knizia’s Cthulhu Rising

A new game from the prolific Professor Knizia.

In Cthulhu Rising one player plays on the side of the cultists as they try to summon the great Cthulhu. The other player plays the investigators trying to stop the cultist from unleashing the ultimate terror. This highly strategic, abstract game pits player against player as they try to place their numbered tiles in columns and rows to accumulate the most points while trying to block the opposing player from doing the same.

Magnet

New abstract games are thin on the ground, so let's welcome Magnet from the now prolific Z-man games.

MAGNET is a game of coordinated action and secret identity. Opposing kings fight a battle of force and deception to claim the center.
Place the magnet piece anywhere on the board and "attract" one piece along each vector. Make powerful combined attacks or strong defensive reorganizations in a single move.
Each side owns 12 pieces including 1 king and 2 traps. Pieces begin at the lowest rank with identities hidden. After each move a piece may be promoted, increasing its power but offering clues to the opponent. Use bluff and secrecy to conceal the identity of your king and trick your opponent into your traps.
